The ATtiny13A is an 8-pin device with 6 available for I/O. It can be used anywhere a small bit of smart is required and there just isn't any need for a more complete microcontroller solution. They are small enough and cheap enough to replace standard logic gates in some applications.

Power Supply vs. Maximum Frequency

The ATtiny13A has a unique clock, featuring an internal clock that runs at 128kHz, or an RC clock that runs 4.8MHz or 9.6MHz along with a divide by 8 fuse. The maximum frequency is 20MHz with an external clock (not a crystal!). The default clock is the internal RC oscillator running at 9.6MHz with the รท8 enabled, for a clock of 1.2MHz.
